Itinerary

Day 1 SUNDAY We travel north-east to Bury St Edmunds where we stop for refreshments, before continuing to our hotel in Norwich.

Day 2 MONDAY This morning we enjoy a morning guided tour of Norwich City Centre. Dominated by its magnificent Norman cathedral, which is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Europe and has the second tallest spire in the country. Free time at leisure during the afternoon.

Day 3 TUESDAY Our first visit is to Blickling Hall (NT), a magnificent Jacobean mansion, famed for its Long Gallery, fine tapestries, paintings and rare books. We then visit Wroxham Barns, a beautifully restored 18thcentury barn which now homes a collection of craft shops.

Day 4 WEDNESDAY We drive to the North Norfolk coast to Sheringham Park (NT), a Humphrey Repton landscaped park, featuring a main drive with sea views, rolling parkland and temple. We continue to 17th-century Felbrigg Hall (NT), home to fascinating collections, a glorious walled garden and acres of rolling parkland.

Day 5 THURSDAY We drive to Oulton Broad where we enjoy a delightful 90-minute Waveney Marshland River Cruise along the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Later, we continue to the timeless and delightful resort of Southwold, little changed since Victorian times.

Day 6 FRIDAY Leaving after breakfast, we visit Oxburgh Hall (NT), a medieval moated manor house with Victorian Gothic interiors, a Victorian garden, kitchen garden and French-inspired Parterre. We then continue homeward, arriving in the local area late afternoon.

The hotel is an imposing country house hotel set in 150 acres of beautiful, wooded Norfolk parkland. This lovely hotel with its sweeping drive and combined Elizabethan and Victorian styles, offers spacious public areas, a fine restaurant, Brasserie bar and club house bar. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, steam room. Lift access to most rooms.
