Join us as we head to Warners elegant 4-star standard Thoresby Hall, a wonderful Nottinghamshire hidden gem. The centrepiece being an 1875 Grade 1 listed building, perched on the edge of Sherwood Forest. Lovingly restored, the hall brings a touch of grandeur alongside all the modern bathrooms and spa facilities that you have come to expect with a Warner break.
Day 1 MONDAY We travel north to Nottinghamshire making a suitable stop for lunch and refreshments en-route, arriving at our hotel in time for dinner and our 4-night stay.
Day 2 TUESDAY A morning visit to Nottingham, home of legends and lace with free time to explore and obtain lunch. The compact city is easy to navigate and largely pedestrianised. Carved into the craggy rock below the imposing castle you will find Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem said to be England's oldest inn at 800 years old. There are great shopping opportunities from High Street favourites to Victorian Arcades.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY After a leisurely breakfast we head to Lincoln to explore one of Britain's smallest cities. Famous for the triple towered Cathedral and the Norman Castle built by William the Conqueror.
Day 4 THURSDAY Today we make a visit to Chatsworth House, the palatial home of the Dukes of Devonshire. Known as the ‘Palace of the Peaks’ the interior rooms are a treasure trove of priceless furniture and magnificent paintings. The landscaped gardens are considered to be some of the finest in Britain and feature sculptures, mazes and waterworks including the famous Cascade Fountain which falls 600 feet down the hillside.
Day 5 FRIDAY We make our way home, with suitable refreshment stops along the way, reaching the local area during the afternoon.
Set in acres of rolling parklands on the edge of Sherwood Forest. One of Nottinghamshire’s most important houses, Thoresby’s original features are still enjoyed by guests today. Activities and facilities include live nightly entertainment, swimming pool, aqua aerobics, archery, croquet, curling, darts, pool/snooker, rifle shooting, sauna, gym, steam room and spa treatments (Spa treatments are at an extra cost). There is Wi-Fi and a lift to some rooms.
